do anyone know if all the workshops are cabaret specific? or they will be open to inviting teachers to offer more Fusion/ Tribal-ish workshops as well? -

We try and have a good varity of teachers from Bhangra (the real thing) plus cabaret instruction.
This is our 5th year of the multi cultural event and the goal is to make it better and better.
Last year in Visalia we were fortunate enough to have 2 groups from Bakersfield.
Im the MECDA central Valley VP

Hey, thanks for getting the advance word out on the Caba-Ribal event!
Also, I really appreciate your help with the Asoka and the workshop!
I feel both went really well.
What happened to Brigette? I missed her at the Asoka.
Also, lets start a thread here on why people are afraid to dance to live music when they have great musicians like Mirage available and it didnt cost them a dime!

you'd probably remember me if you saw me. I used to dance w/ Natalie and last year joined Tribal Underground and we danced at Caba Ribal. I'm so thrilled I can take workshops and our toupe will be able to participate w/o a 2-5 hr drive, or having to spend the night (I KNOW you know what this is like).
Thanks so much, I'm so excited!
PS. I think some ladies get kinda freaked w/ live music (compared to choreography) b/c they aren't familiar w/ beat changes and they're afraid to mess up in front of others. Taking a workshop on that (I've missed such workshops in the past- darn!) is a terrific way to gain some confidance w/o the performance anxiety.

Yep, I can understand finals for sure, we did miss you though.
It went well, I was hoping to have more dancers to live but the three of us that did were "Spectacular" (hows that for being confident huh DaVid?)
I hope Fresno does some other things with the guys (Mirage)
Katrina had an idea about a workshop on how to dance to live music....we could do a tribal insight maybe with Rachel Soto and a cabaret insight with me.
Im thinking maybe jeramiah may like the idea???
Maybe Jimmie and Eddie too?
Would anyone be interested if we could make this really afforable?
Like at the MECDA event???

Btw, I've been talking up this event in November and have had several people ask me who they should contact if they wish to vend? the latest info on the location? workshops? as the show nears. Is there an e-mail or website I can direct them too? not everyone is on Tribe.

Mon, September 12, 2005 - 11:16 PMyey! I have agreed to lead a beginning/intermediate arabic drum workshop at CABA-RIBAL. Just depends on what the interest is.
I'd also be interested in helping out a class for dancers to learn how to dance with live music, if someone else would lead it. I always love helping dancers become more comfortable with live music.
finally.... tom comes up with some spam related to the tribe. : )

I couldn't find any details on the MECDA site. I am waiting for word from the organizers re: same. I really don't want to miss the chance to take Tommy's and Kami's workshops!!!
