This is cross posted in a few Fresno tribes -- please excuse repeats but I am hoping for good info!
Can anyone recommend some good places to smoke hookah in the Fresno, Clovis, and Madera areas? Preferably a place with a good 'scene' in the evenings? Bellydance too, maybe?
I am also seeking the elusive perfect cup of Turkish, Armenian, or Egyptian styled coffee . . .

One, I know for sure has belly dancing on Saturday evenings at 8:30 (because I dance there). That's the City Kabob cafe on Blackstone across from Riverpark... with the singular distinction of being right next to Hooters. ;)
I like the patio, though. Nice little tables, the fountain is nearby. Lydia of Tanjora will be featured there this weekend, I'll be there the following weekend... There's someone dancing every Saturday throughout the summer.
The other two places are Ghaleb Kabob, also on Blackstone, just South of Bullard Ave., next to...Office Depot, I think.
And Cafe Monte Cristo which is further North, on Fort Washington.
As for Turkish, Armenian, or Egyptian styled coffee...I have no idea. There are a few other Mediterranean style restaurants in Fresno, though. Maybe someone else knows. -

Thu, May 26, 2005 - 8:45 AMTry By The Sea at Palm & Herndon. There are always some Arab guys hanging around in the evenings smoking pipes, I'm sure they've got the coffee too!
Good food there too, it's Mediterannean and Carribean.......
