Everyone Please Read... rules for posting photos

Everyone is welcome to post photos of dance events in the valley, but I'd appreciate it if we could all do a few simple things when adding a photo to the tribe. Due to a recent email request about a photo, I'm instituting a few general rules:

First, it's best to post pictures of yourself or your own troupe only... unless you know you have the permission of the person in the photo to use their image. That's just courteous and respectful.

Also, post photos that are your own, and are not something you picked up from some other photographer... again... unless you have their permission to do so.

I'm sure I don't have to tell anyone that posting a photo that could potentially be embarrassing to someone should not be done. We've never had any problems with that, but I thought I'd mention it.

When you do post a photo, please label it with the following information:

The name of the dancer.
The name of the dance group, troupe, or dance company that dancer is affiliated with (if any)
If the photo was taken by someone other than yourself, please credit that person as well.
If you can, also include where the photo was taken, what the event was, the date or approximate date it was taken... though I know that won't always be relevant to all photos. Sometimes it's just nice to have a frame of reference for the picture.

In the future, if a picture is posted without the dancer's name (whatever name she goes by as a dancer) and affiliation... as soon as I notice (or it is called to my attention)I will send an email to the poster to please provide the requested information. If that information is not posted within a reasonable time frame, the photo will be removed.

Recently a photo was posted and I added information that was given to me, by someone other than the person that put up the photo, as a courtesy, but I don't have time to do it for every picture posted.

I'm sure we all enjoy seeing fun, beautiful pictures of people and events in our dance community. And I don't want anyone to hesitate to post something... everyone's input is welcome here. Let's just make sure we're showing courtesy to the dancers and groups, as well as the photographers, who put so much time and effort into their art by identifying them properly so everyone knows who they are. We should give credit where credit is due.

Thanks everyone!
